Privacy Policy
In short
Garden of Being does not track you, show ads, or analyse how you play. The only thing that ever leaves your computer is a garden you choose to share.
What stays on your computer
Your gardens, settings and any notes you write are saved locally on your machine. If Steam Cloud is turned on in Steam, Steam automatically backs up your save folder to your Steam Cloud storage, which is handled by Valve.
Sharing a garden
When you choose to share a garden, it is uploaded to our server (Cloudflare R2) so others can visit it. To make sure only you can change or delete your own gardens, each shared garden is stored under your Steam ID. When you upload, Steam confirms it's you and that you own the game.
- A shared garden contains the flowers and their positions, the garden's name, the note you wrote beside it, and your Steam display name.
- The share link includes your Steam ID. Anyone with the link can view the garden, along with your Steam ID and display name. Please don't put anything private in a garden you share.
- Shared gardens stay until you delete them. You can unshare any garden from inside the game at any time. Tearing a garden out of your diary doesn't unshare it, so unshare it first.
- Beyond your Steam ID and display name, we don't collect your email or any other account details.
Featured gardens
In future, some shared gardens may be chosen by hand to be featured in the game. If you'd rather yours wasn't featured, write to us and we'll remove it.
Reporting a garden
If you come across a shared garden with something inappropriate in it, write to us with the share link and we'll take it down.
Services we rely on
- Steam (Valve) handles your account, purchase, achievements and Steam Cloud. Steam's privacy policy applies to that.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores shared gardens. Like any web host, it may briefly process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service.
- Google Fonts serves this website's fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google.
- Tally runs our contact form. Anything you send through it is handled by Tally.
Your data, your choice
You can unshare your gardens from within the game. If you can't, or want everything linked to your Steam ID removed, write to us and we'll do it.
